Photo-blog - Rome Day 1

Finally the pictures have arrived! 150 shots a day will bog you down for
quite some time. This is just the first installment of my trip, here we have
my first day in Rome. There are quite a few. Post your thoughts and enjoy!

View from hostel room in the morning on the first day.

Graffiti on main street downtown.

Graffiti ridden street. Mini.

Zach and Sheryl unknowingly walking toward Colosseum.

Mosaic in the hall of the subway exit.

One of many wild cat that calls the walls of the Colosseum home.

Interior of Colosseum, light streaming in through a walkway.

View of sun from inside.

...another...

...and another...

A lone grouping of flowers growing on the ancient wall inside the Colosseum.

The catacombs of the main stage. (used to be covered and hidden)

Cross on lower level.

Looking straight up a column.

...again, different column...

Wide view of interior.

Modern tourist contrasted with men in ancient Roman attire.

Arch of Constantine next to Colosseum. Love this shot. :-)

View from Colosseum (don't know what this is called, sorry, I'm lame)

Funny story. This guy was posing for a picture for several minutes, before
deciding at the last minute he was going to throw the "thumbs up." I don't think anyone saw it coming. I know I didn't.

Arch on lower level of Colosseum.

Same cross from above, different view.

More light streaming...oh yea.

Another view of the cross discussed above. Pay attention.

Hilarious drunk bastard who decided he wanted to carve this tablet. Stay inside the lines my friend.

May in fact be what he saw.

Walkways of Rome. In my opinion, a sprained ankle waiting to happen, especially in ancient sandals.

The three of us chillin' on an old wall. Thanks tripod.

Nature shot from same wall. Thanks bee.

Another walkway.

We stumbled up this old road accidentally and we found this house that someone still seemed to be living in. This is a view through an opening in the huge
wall of their backyard.

Broken lamp. Here they come, the lamps that is, beware.

Wall we were sitting on earlier.

Old fountain that used to be carved marble, but now it is so overgrown you can't even see the original. Very cool.

View of Rome from the hilltop.

Green vines covering a rock.

Water fountain coming out of previous rock. Empty water bottle anyone?

Looking down on an old brick archway.

View of Colosseum from hilltop.

Old man just straight chillin' Taking in previous hilltop views.

Crazy tree deserves crazy angle.

Old roman residences.

Crazy wall deserves crazy angle.

More streaming light (not as streamy this time), look out.

Marble column. Diggin' this shot.

Huge (HUGE) old tree.

Someone should tell these leaves they missed Fall. It is in fact December. How 'bout that lamp.

I'm not gonna be the one to tell them though, alright?

A look through an old wall. I guess you could say it's what the wall sees...another wall. Hmm...

Green. Yum.

Another HUGE tree, blocked a bit by the wall, and tinted.

Not tinted, not blocked,...I can't seem to decide which one I like more. So, you get both.

Spiral staircase in ancient building. I had no light to work with in here, so I probably took this shot 20 times to make sure it came out. I got one
that did thankfully.

This is the ceiling of the building with the staircase.

Very cool old house on top of the hill discussed earlier.

Lamp much.

Roman ant. Red head. Be afraid, be very afraid.

Wooden fence.

Check out that shadow. Two lamps in one you say?

Green. Yum.

Many greens. Texture heaven, yep.

Hey lamp, how you holdin' up?

Crazy masons. Gotta love it.

More modern Roman building.

Narrow street wall.

No parking sign that no one will see. (they are just asking for this shot to come up in court to fight a ticket, aren't they?)

Sunset, palm trees, and CCTV.

More of the same palm trees. Hey, those sure are some interesting lamps.

WOH! Lamp.

You guessed it.

Awwww.

Zach, a little too excited, but for good reason.

They just did this.

What.

Yow!

And just one more, for good measure.

SEE, ROME DAY ONE! Now you can understand why it is taking so long to get
these shots up. More to come, sooner than later, promise.
